This raging Godzilla radiated renewed menace, with a mountainous silhouette of massive dorsal fins running from its fanged face to its longest tail yet.
A young bandit Goku met on his journey when he was a child. Being a bandit, Yamcha would steal money from those that passed through his wasteland. He initially joined Goku and company with the hopes of stealing the Dragon Balls from them, but he eventually grew fond of them and became a good friend. He later gave up his bandit life and became a student of Master Roshi.
Yamcha planned on using the Dragon Balls to overcome his shyness around women, but he was able to do so on his own after he and Bulma grew close and started dating. However, this newfound confidence turned him into a womanizer, which did not sit well with Bulma, and the two eventually split.
Together with Goku and Krillin, Yamcha entered the World Tournament three times, and was able to make it past the preliminaries each time only to lose soon afterwards. In his first tournament, he lost to Jackie Chun (Master Roshi in disguise); in his second, he lost to Tien; and in his third, he lost to Earth's guardian Kami (in the body of a human).
Yamcha is naturally kind-hearted and cares for his friends, as seen when he fought the Saibamen on Krillin's behalf and when he rushed to the aid of Goku and others with Senzu Beans after he himself was nearly killed by the androids. He even reassured Trunks that his father fought to avenge him after he was killed by Cell.
In the TV series, Yamcha is shown to be skilled in things other than martial arts. For example, he served as a stand-in player for baseball teams to earn some extra cash, using his martial arts training to hit three consecutive home runs, among other feats.
Shortly after being brought back to life with the Namekian Dragon Balls, Yamcha began to live with Bulma again at Capsule Corporation, but things became awkward when Vegeta moved in as well. Yamcha's willingness to live with a former enemy confused Tien, but Tien himself once intentionally broke Yamcha's leg in the World Tournament and Yamcha later forgave him.
Similar to Krillin, Yamcha chose to give up martial arts after the Cell Games, even refusing to enter the World Tournament, fearing he would only embarrass himself. He and Bulma remain good friends, and any awkwardness over their past relationship is long gone.
