Goku's second son and Gohan's younger brother. Naive and somewhat spoiled, he is the spitting image of Goku when he was a child. Similar to his brother, however, Goten has great fighting potential. When Goten and Gohan trained together, Gohan was surprised at Goten's ability to transform into a Super Saiyan so easily. Initially hesitant to meet his father when he came back for the World Tournament, Goten was heartbroken to learn that his father had to leave and gave him a tearful hug before his return to the Other World. Goten and Trunks later used the Fusion Technique taught to them by Goku and Piccolo to stand against the monster Majin Buu as the world's last great hope. As he got older, Goten gave up fighting and became much more interested in dating girls...
Goten spent much of his time with his best friend Trunks, whether it was playing with toys or make-believe fighting to see who was stronger. The two kids both inherited a hatred of losing from their fathers, and in the Junior Division of the World Tournament, they naturally got so caught up in their fight that they turned into Super Saiyans, despite being told not to do so.
Though Chi-Chi had been incredibly tough on Gohan, she was less so with Goten, as she felt he had too much of his father in him and would best learn from a more hands-off approach. However, she would occasionally engage Goten in some light training exercises when she had time.
