A highly gifted young Namekian boy from the Dragon Clan who has the power to heal. He lived with his brother Cargo in Elder Moori's village, but Frieza and his men laid waste to the village in their search for the Dragon Balls, leaving all but Dende dead. He was eventually rescued by Krillin and Gohan.

Sensing the need to use the Dragon Balls in the future, Goku traveled to Namek before the Cell Games to encourage Dende to become the next guardian of Earth. While he was a guardian, Dende not only created new Dragon Balls, but he also increased the number of wishes that can be made from one to three.
