Giovanni is the leader of Team Rocket, as well as the Gym Leader of Viridian City in the Kanto region. He is a cold and calculating man, and is feared for his ruthlessness - however, after being defeated by the player, he is shown to have an honorable side, congratulating them for defeating him and willingly disbanding Team Rocket. He uses a variety of powerful Pokémon, but specialises in Ground-type Pokémon, with his ace changing from game to game.
