Silver is the player's rival in the Johto games. He starts out as an antagonistic force, stealing his first Pokémon from Professor Elm's Lab, and being noted by others to have an incredibly aggressive battle style that shows a lack of concern for his Pokémon. However, he also shows a hatred for Team Rocket, sharing a common goal with the player, and starts to change his attitude as he encounters the player over and over again. While his ace in the Johto games is dependent on his chosen starter, he is consistently associated with Sneasel in other media.
