Once created by Gate to aid volcanic disaster response teams, Blaze Heatnix saw his powers and strength enhanced so that he could research any area. Pride in his abilities being far beyond the rest of those in his group saw him leave any members who fell behind to their fates. This led to an order to dispose of him deep underground so there would be no more casualties.
Revived by Gate, Heatnix was now charged with investigating the phenomena of the Zero Nightmare within the hot spot of the Magma area. When confronted by X and the returned Zero, Heatnix relished the chance to test their strength against his. Blaze Heatnix's main attacks included spitting large chunks of fiery rock called Magma Shots at his opponents, as well as crescent-shaped beams known as Magma Waves. Between these attacks, he would summon the Magma Stream, which would fill the bottom or, inexplicably, the top (possibly an effect of the Zero Nightmare) of his arena with a strange purple magma. With the Magma Stream present, he would move through it almost like a shark, circling the Hunters before striking. Finally, true to his name, God Bird allowed him to invincibly fly across the arena, engulfed in a shield of flames. When defeated, his power allowed X to infuse the Z-Saber with flames and to launch fireballs from it in an attack called the Magma Blade. Zero's Shouenzan similarly infused his saber with flames for a rising strike with a fireball of his own.
