Known as the Emerald Witch, Sieglinde is the liege of Wolfsschlucht, a small, isolated village in Germany. She is an incredibly precocious young girl, knowledgeable in both science and medicine. As part of the Emerald Witch tradition, her feet have been bound, requiring her to be carried by her butler Wolfram at most times. As the head of the village, she is responsible for appeasing the wolfmen who live in the forest surrounding it. Through her spells and medical knowledge, she is able to heal those who come into contact with the wolfmen and their harmful miasma.
She has a thirst for all sorts of knowledge, and greatly wishes to see the world outside of her village. She also has a great interest in 'adult' topics as well, leading to a somewhat overactive and inappropriate imagination.
SPOILER: Sieglinde is the daughter of a talented pair of German scientists. Her father was killed during an experiment gone wrong, and her mother was heavily disfigured. Sieglinde was marked as a genius from a very young age, with her mother taking this as a sign that her beloved's mind had been reborn. Her mother, in conjunction with the German government, then started the Emerald Witch Education Project. The project would isolate Sieglinde from the world, and allow her to work on the synthesis of an ultimate chemical weapon without ever learning the truth.
Ciel and Sebastian discover the truth of the project and reveal it to Sieglinde. Horrified at her creation of the ultimate weapon SuLin, she then resolves to leave the village, hoping to advance medical science and instead create an ultimate cure. Under Ciel's advice, Sieglinde keeps SuLin gas a secret, but secures funding from Queen Victoria in exchange for the secret to mustard gas.
She and Wolfram now live in England, where they provide medical and scientific support to Ciel.
