Once the second-in-command of the covert Maverick Hunter Special O Class Unit (Shinobi), Blast Hornet went to Dopple Town in the place of his commander, Zero, whose presence had been requested by Dr. Doppler. While there, a new spread of the Maverick Virus infected him, turning him Maverick and causing his defection to Doppler's army, where he was put in charge of guarding a weapons factory.
He was defeated by X, but resurfaced as one of the Reploids revived by the Soul Erasers on Laguz Island. There, he fought and lost to his former commanding officer, Zero. His data went on to be further used to attack those who intruded upon the lair of Metal Shark Player during the Nightmare Incident. Blast Hornet usually attempted to make the first strike with his stinger, but his primary weapon, the Parasitic Bomb, would fire a barrage of hornet-shaped drones from his abdomen which latched onto their target and inflicted damage before exploding. When pressed, Hornet activated his targeting system, which allowed a smaller number of Parasitic Bombs to hunt down his prey. When X defeated Hornet, he gained a Parasitic Bomb of his own. While his normal version was a four-pronged projectile, charging the weapon saw it resume its normal shape. Zero's victory acquired him a version of the Earth Gaizer, in which he punched the ground, sending forth a devastating wave of destructive force.
