Mai is one of the wardens of the Diamond Clan, tasked with watching over the Ride Wyrdeer that lives in the Obsidian Fieldlands. She acts as somewhat of a contrast to her descendant, Marley, with a confident, no-nonsense attitude, and her ace Munchlax being one of the slowest Pokémon compared to Marley's Pokémon all having high Speed. Mai considers Adaman to be her little brother, and the two have known each other since childhood.
