A member of the vigilante syndicate known as Red Alert, Flame Hyenard experienced a malfunction which caused him constant pain and suffering. Dispatched by Red to face the Maverick Hunters in a showdown at the Lava Factory, it was only with their destruction that he believed his torment would finally end. When engaging the Hunters, Hyenard attacked from atop a giant gazelle-like Mechaniloid, deploying a pair of copies of himself in his Tri-Formation while the Mechaniloid rained Super Missiles down from the launchers on its back. The clones would attack with fireballs, while the original used a more powerful Fire Break version, and they would all attempt to surround and converge on the Hunters with their Tri- Strike maneuver.
With incessant shrieks of "Burn! Burn to the ground! Burn to the ground! Burn! Burn to the ground! Burn to the ground!", Hyenard's mental state seemed to have seen him driven to madness, though he might have simply desired to do the same to others. Once Hyenard was relieved of his suffering, X and Axl acquired the Circle Blaze exploding fireball, while Zero learned the Bakuenjin, a technique which surrounded him with a circle of fire upon punching the ground.
