Aya Fujiwara is an enigma—no one really knows when she first appeared at professional mahjong tournaments in Tenhou City. While no one remembers seeing her before, no one questions her presence either. Her peculiar appearance, complete with curling tails, hardly raises an eyebrow.
Little is known about her. Inquiries to the Tenhou Census Bureau or the Mahjong Pro League often lead to vague, ambiguous answers, most of which are impossible to verify. What is certain, however, is that she never plays to win. Instead, she plays purely for her own amusement.
