In the past, Dojima aimed to become the clan's third chairman by securing the rights to the entirety of the land needed in the Kamurocho Revitalization Project. Thus, he commanded his three lieutenants to do whatever was needed to secure the final piece - the Empty Lot.
In 1995, Dojima is shot down by Akira Nishikiyama, Kazuma Kiryu's sworn brother, after he had kidnapped Yumi Sawamura. In an attempt to defend Nishikiyama, Kiryu frames himself and ends up serving 10 years in prison.
