The winner was supposed to have their design turned into an official figure and released as a product - however, for unknown reasons (presumably the line was already coming to a close by the time they had planned to release it), this was never the case. It wasn't until 2012 when the then-running line Masters of the Universe Classics made true to Mattel's word and finally released him as an official character of the brand. His official biography also incorporates this into the lore, as there were 5 finalists for the contest (five inventors), and the desire to be a Master of the Universe emulates the desire to enter the contest.
